Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the media in facilitating the privatization of sports venues. By acting as a bridge between the government, the private sector, and the public, the media can contribute significantly to the correct and successful guidance of the privatization process of sports venues. Data from semi-structured interviews with experts in the fields of media, sports management, sports policy-making, and the operation of sports venues were analyzed. Data analysis was conducted using Glasery's grounded theory approach; This means that coding was gradual, comparative, and data-driven, and instead of relying on predetermined categories, core concepts were extracted from the repetitions, emphases, and semantic patterns of the interviews. In this process, open codes were first identified, Then, based on conceptual affinity, they were organized into core categories, and finally, six selected codes emerged as the main dimensions of the media's role in facilitating the privatization of sports venues. The quantitative findings of the study showed that the six components identified in the qualitative section were also statistically confirmed, and They were able to explain the macro-structure of "the role of the media in creating a platform for the privatization of sports venues." The overall conclusion of the research is that the media plays an intermediary, supervisory, educational, trust-building, and reforming role in creating a platform for the privatization of sports venues.
