Abstract
This research aimed to develop a model for the ethical management of media crises in cultural-sports organizations of municipalities. This study used a qualitative approach using thematic analysis (the Atred-Sterling (2001) proposed method). The statistical population of this study included active professors of sports management in the relevant field, media experts, public relations managers of cultural-sports organizations of municipalities in selected provincial capitals, managers of cultural-sports organizations (with at least 5 years of management experience, located in provincial capitals, and holding a PhD degree), and prominent staff members of these organizations (with more than 10 years of work experience, holding a master's or PhD degree, having sports backgrounds, and high scores in annual evaluations), all of whom were selected through purposive sampling (18 participants). The research tool was an exploratory (semi-structured) interview. The validity of the tool was evaluated and confirmed based on the opinions of experts and the consensus of the evaluators. MaxQDA2022 Pro software was used to analyze the findings. The results of the comprehensive analysis and the thematic network, which was developed using the opinions of experts and theoretical foundations, showed that the three overarching themes—planning, organizing and coordinating, and human resources—along with the three organizing themes, form the dimensions of ethical management of media crises in cultural-sports organizations of municipalities. In summary, this research emphasizes the importance of ethical management and attention to human aspects in media crisis management in these organizations and examines the needs of this area. These measures will ensure the improvement of organizational performance in dealing with media crises and help maintain their credibility and reputation.
