Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the lived experiences of various stakeholders in the Iraqi football industry in evaluating the relationship between communication literacy and their quality of life. This qualitative study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach. Key stakeholders included fans, athletes, coaches, referees, senior and operational managers of the Iraqi Football Federation, managers and experts from professional football clubs, Asian and global football federations, media, sponsors, and active companies in the Iraqi football industry. A total of 20 participants were purposively selected for this study. For data interpretation and analysis, a seven-step Colaizzi method was used to generate categories and subcategories. The research findings revealed five main factors impacting stakeholders' quality of life: inadequate fundamental skills, appropriate awareness of interaction dimensions, social support and overall life satisfaction, low analytical thinking, and diverse attitudes. The findings indicate that some stakeholders face inadequate fundamental skills and low analytical thinking, which may lead to a decrease in their quality of life. Conversely, appropriate awareness of interaction dimensions and positive social support contribute to improved overall life satisfaction. Additionally, the diverse attitudes toward communication literacy impact suggest that some groups have not yet fully grasped its effects. Overall, this research highlights the need for enhancing communication literacy and raising awareness among football stakeholders, recommending the development of educational and supportive programs to improve communication skills and increase awareness of its positive effects on quality of life.
