Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise in cyberspace on participation motivation and body image of female high school students in Tehran. The present research is applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of data collection method. Also, the method of the present study was field data from the perspective of data collection. Cluster random sampling method was selected and in the next step by distributing a questionnaire, 60 people who received the lowest score from the body image questionnaire were randomly selected and randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in a training program in cyberspace for 12 weeks (two sessions per week and each session for 1 hour). The research instruments included the Body Image Questionnaire of Cash et al (1987) and the questionnaire of motivation to participate in sports Hong (2010). Mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data in descriptive statistics and In the inferential statistics section, statistical tests of covariance and version 22 of SPSS software were used. The results showed that exercise in cyberspace has a significant effect on participation motivation and body image of female high school students in Tehran (P ≥ 0.05). Accordingly, it is suggested that students be encouraged by parents and respected teachers to participate in cyberspace sports programs.
